Anna Gammans creates expressive contemporary paintings that balance recognisable places and forms with a freer, more intuitive approach to colour and surface.

Working predominantly with oils, she builds her compositions using brushes, palette knives, sponges and direct mark-making. Layers of paint are developed, removed and reworked until the image reaches its final sense of balance.

Additional elements of ink, spray paint and metallic colour bring texture and movement to selected works, creating paintings that feel atmospheric, immediate and alive with changing light.
