Rich Simmons is a British contemporary artist whose work brings together the rebellious energy of street art, the graphic impact of pop culture and the raw attitude of punk.
Entirely self-taught, Simmons has developed his own distinctive visual language: Pop Punk Art.
Working through intricately hand-cut stencils, spray paint and layered imagery, Simmons transforms familiar cultural references into bold, narrative-driven works. Comic-book heroes, fashion, music and celebrity imagery are reworked to examine identity, relationships, vulnerability and the contradictions of contemporary culture.
His practice developed outside the traditional gallery system through street art and large-scale public works, before expanding onto canvas and into exhibition spaces. That independent mentality remains central to the work: direct, energetic and unwilling to follow established rules.
Beneath the colour and graphic immediacy, Simmons’ work contains a deeper emotional and social commentary. His compositions use recognisable imagery to create an immediate connection before disrupting the story the viewer expects to see.

From the street
to the studio.
Simmons developed his visual language through stencil-making, street art and large-scale public works. His studio practice retains that sense of immediacy while allowing for increasingly intricate compositions and layered surfaces.
