Keith
Haring
An iconic American artist whose energetic lines, animated figures and universally recognisable symbols brought contemporary art into public spaces and popular culture.
Featured work by Keith Haring
A bold visual language created for the streets and shared with everyone.
Keith Haring developed an instantly recognisable visual language built from bold black lines, radiant figures, dancing bodies, barking dogs and rhythmic patterns.
After moving to New York, Haring became closely connected to the city’s downtown art and street culture. His early public drawings transformed unused advertising panels in subway stations into temporary artworks that could be encountered by anyone.
Beneath their direct and energetic appearance, Haring’s works frequently address community, love, power, technology, inequality, sexuality, illness and social responsibility.
